Our narrow hemp is a hand woven fabric from the Golden Triangle area of northern Thailand. It is traditionally woven by H'mong women on village looms. The weave is irregular as it is hand woven. It only comes in fairly narrow widths.
The hemp is available in its natural undyed colour - and its great for dyeing, stitching or batiking. It would be suitable for making bags or accessories. We also have loads of wonderful colours in stock at the moment!
We were asked so many times if we had a wider hemp fabric that I started to look for some last time I was in Thailand. And here it is - a beautiful smooth machine woven fabric which comes in a width of approx 135 - 145 centimetres. There are different weights available for different purposes such as dressmaking and upholstery. If you need smaller pieces of hemp fabrics, we also sell it as Fat Quarter sets.
