We have three batik making kits.

One is suitable for trying out batik on paper and the beginners kits can be used to try batik on cotton fabric or on a cotton scarf.

To start with you could use an old pan to melt your wax in and then when you are feel ready to take the plunge, I recommend a waxpot or an electric frying pan with a thermostat which is what I use. Have fun!

Because the kits include soda ash and wax we can't post these kits out to countries outside the UK (as they may be stopped at customs)

You can buy all the different individual items in the kit seperately but this saves you money!

Batik kit for paper

This kit is ideal for the beginner and anyone who wants to have a go at batik. To try batik on paper all you will need is something to melt your wax in (a small old saucepan will do) some paper and a paintbrush. You can try all sorts of different papers - tissue paper, rice paper, silk papers and newsprint all work well.

The kit includes

a medium spout long handled canting from Java,
300 grams of batik wax mix,
3 x 10 grams pots of bright procion dyes which can be used as they are or combined together to give a wide range of colours,
a small wooden printing block suitable for printing in wax,
instructions and tips.

Batik kit for beginners

This kit is ideal for the beginner and anyone who wants to have a go at batik. To try batik on cotton, you will need something to melt your wax in (a small saucepan which you won't use for anything else), a frame (an old picture frame will do fine) and a paintbrush or sponge brush.

The kit includes

300 grams batik wax mix,
3 x 10 gram procion dyes in 3 bright colours which can be used as they are or combined together to make a wide range of colours
