What are hill tribes?

The term Hill Tribes refers to the ethnic minority groups who migrated from across Laos, China and Myanmar to settle in the hills of Northern Thailand. The main Hill Tribes are H’mong, Karen, Akha, Lisu, Lahu and Palaung. They are largely subsistence farmers, but have a strong artisanal heritage with a focus on the beautiful embroidered pieces and silver jewellery you’ll find in our shop.

Do you sell Thai Hill Tribe Clothing?

We’ve dabbled in selling clothing online in the past, but unfortunately the returns made it too costly for us to continue. We would love to find a way of selling clothing online again, but for the time being it’s something you can only find at our live shows and events.

Is Hill Tribe Embroidery rare?

The older antique pieces of hill tribe embroidery which used to be so common are definitely rare nowadays, but the craft of embroidery itself continues within the tribes and we’re committed to supporting the artisans who create this hill tribe embroidery so that the tradition is continued.
