What is Bali Batik?

Though batik has a long history in Indonesia, “Bali Batik” generally refers to a more modern take on the art of batik. In the 1970s a new, modern, multicultural form of batik began to emerge in response to the recent influx of tourists. Moving away from the fine motifs and mysticism of the Javanese batik traditions, this new Bali Batik is patterned with crackle effects and multiple layers of freeform stamping.

Can batik fabric be washed?

These modern Bali Batik pieces are pretty colourfast, though we always recommend washing with similar colours at first just to be on the safe side.
