Fabric Shop

High quality batik fabric and other Asian textiles

Our fabric shop is packed to the rafters with unusual and unique fabrics from across Asia, with a special focus on handwoven textiles, batik and ikat fabric from Indonesia, and indigo cotton.

Most of our fabrics are available to buy by the metre, but occasionally we source short runs of certain designs which are only available in our fat quarter sets. Whether you’re looking for unusual quilting fabric or fabric for dressmaking, we think you’ll find something special for that sewing project here.

Fabric FAQ

Are your fabrics suitable for dressmaking?

We stock a wide range of unique textiles and fabrics, most of which are suitable for use as dressmaking fabrics. Our hemp and indigo fabrics really lend themselves to patterns from Merchant and Mills, Nani Iro and The Assembly Line - anything which you would usually use linen or medium-weight cotton for!

How much fabric should I buy?

Every sewing pattern and project differs, but if you’re browsing our fabric shop and buying for your stash then in the UK the rule of thumb tends to be 2-3 metres. That should cover most future sewing projects such as tops, dresses, trousers and jackets.

Where is your fabric shop?

Our physical shop is in Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire, but is only open by appointment or on designated dates throughout the year at the moment. Our online shop is based in Cornwall, but we’re not open to the public. If you want to see our fabrics up close then check our events diary to see our market and show dates, or contact us to find out more about visiting our Shropshire shop.
